Aims and Scope
The aim of the journal
The International Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine is aimed to publish articles dedicated to advancing clinical practice, health policy, and medical education through the publication of rigorous, high-quality research. Our mission is to provide clinicians, researchers, and policymakers with reliable evidence to inform decision-making and improve patient outcomes worldwide. The journal is committed to the core principles of evidence-based medicine, recognizing that study design directly influences the strength and applicability of research findings.
The scope of the journal
The International Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine welcomes submissions across the following categories, structured by the hierarchy of evidence:
Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses - Comprehensive syntheses of high-quality, randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Randomized Controlled Trials - Well-designed experimental studies with random assignment, considered the "gold standard" for therapeutic questions.
Non-Randomized Controlled Trials - Controlled trials lacking randomization, introducing higher risk of bias.
Cohort Studies and Case-Control Studies - Analytic observational studies tracking groups over time or comparing disease cases with controls.
Case Series and Case Reports - Observational descriptive studies reporting on a small group or individual patient.
Expert Opinion and Background Information - Opinions based on clinical experience, bench research, or expert committee.
Additional Submission Categories
Beyond the hierarchy of evidence, the journal also welcomes methodological papers that advance the science of evidence synthesis, bias assessment, and guideline development. We invite short communications that report preliminary findings or novel observations concisely, as well as letters to the editor that engage with previously published work and stimulate scholarly dialogue.
By structuring our scope according to the hierarchy of evidence, the International Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine provides authors with a transparent framework for submission and offers readers a clear understanding of the strength and limitations of the research we publish. We invite contributions from researchers, clinicians, and policymakers worldwide who share our commitment to advancing healthcare through rigorous, reliable evidence.
